YES, we are still giving grants. We've been inundated with inquiries (and other work), and will update this page asap. Meanwhile, although the schedule needs to be updated, the funding guidelines are otherwise accurate - and more recent grantees are listed on our press page.

However, we are no longer accepting letters of inquiry for our 14th round of competitive funding. Inquiries for Round 15 will be taken using a new online form, which is not yet available; please visit this page again soon.

Through our book, album, and other projects, the Mockingbird Foundation has sought to celebrate the music of Phish and the spirit of their fans. By doing so in creative and productive ways, we fulfill our mission of giving back to the larger communities around us, in the name of those very same fans. Our grantees have included schools, community centers, workshops, camps, and scholarship programs from Maine to California, from Appalaicha to the Southwest, and from Kentucky to Kosovo.

We encourage you to apply for a grant, but please keep several things in mind:

  • We are an all-volunteer organization without any paid staff to assist, so are typically unable to respond to inquiries about inquiries.
  • We receive thousands of inquiries whose needs we are unable to meet, and typically fund perhaps 15 grants from every 1,400 inquiries - barely one percent!
  • We emphasize certain aspects of music education, and typically do not fund programs such as music for therapy.

We owe a great deal of thanks to Singing for Change for their help in drafting our funding guidelines, and to our thousands of supporters who have contributed to the success of our all-volunteer charitable projects by submitting work, promoting the effort, and purchasing the book and album. We hope you will consider information about music education issues, and our statement on music and hope in this time of world conflict.

With sincere thanks,
Kristen Godard, for the Funding Committee
