 The Mockingbird Volunteer Corps

Are you interested in assisting The Mockingbird Foundation in its charitable mission (music education for children), but don't have too much time? Then please join the Foundation's Volunteer Corps and help out! As always, only with the help, support and good energy of Phish fans like you will the Foundation be able to help others.

What can you do to help? Well, it could be as easy as making tapes or burning discs for people and telling them about The Phish Companion, the upcoming tribute album, and the charitable goals of the Foundation (see http://www.phish.net/mockingbird/ for more information). Or, you could choose to assist in these areas:

  • Retail Support - phone (or otherwise check) your local bookstores and music stores to make sure the Companion is in stock (and able to be easily located), and that the Foundation's tribute album is anticipated (e.g., by giving a flyer about the tribute album to the music store's buyer);

  • Press Outreach - contact nearby papers and radio stations to see if they know about the all-fan Mockingbird Foundation and its charitable work;

  • Media Watch - surf the net looking for reviews and feedback about the book (and album), and submitting them (both text and screenshots) to the Foundation;

  • Regional Support - contact fans in your area, and organize them to assist the Foundation and its charitable goals (e.g., by organizing meetings and keeping them posted about Foundation projects, and by communicating any ideas about content, design, or distribution of the Companion from them to the Foundation);

  • Brainstorming - gather on IRC, message boards or email lists to think of other things that the Foundation can and should do, and/or ways that the content/design of the book/album could be improved, and/or other ways to improve the mission and activities of the Foundation.

The Mockingbird Foundation is run by unpaid volunteers and is grassroots, fan-created and fan-driven. Serving the Foundation's charitable mission reflects favorably on the image of the band and on all of us as Phish fans. Only collectively will we help Mockingbird fly high for charitable benefit.

If you are interested in joining the Foundation's Volunteer Corps, please email Charlie Dirksen at cdirksen@earthlink.net about how you can assist. (A moderated mailing list for volunteers who wish to actively and constructively assist the Foundation as part of a Corps of volunteers will be established.) Thank you.

Respectfully,
The Board of the Mockingbird Foundation
